Welcome to our Podcast "Many Languages, One Conversation!" Today we will be talking about how translanguaging, communication and language help people feel included and understood. 

Sample Ideas for Podcast
“Home voice” vs. “school/work voice”
- Talk about code-switching: talk about how we communicate differently (tone,
syntax, etc.) with our friends and family vs. teachers, peers, or coworkers
- Talk about why, when, how we shift our language
Communication beyond language
- Discuss other forms of communication like hand gestures, facial expressions, and
drawings
- Explain how multimodal communication helps us more accurately communicate
our nonlinear thoughts
Translanguaging in a classroom
- Compare our early education experiences that were (most likely) limited to
English to what we saw on PearDeck with translanguaging classrooms
- Talk about how acknowledging and incorporating a student’s home language
would increase confidence, understanding, and application
‘’How we say it’’
- A way to compare different emotions and expressions that are communicated in
different ways/different languages
- Explaining how in different cultures they use humor, compliments, apologies or
even ways you could express yourself in certain situations
- This could help with knowing goals on greeting each other, showing how
compliments are different in cultures, showing how language varies when it
comes to cultural differences in many things such as expressing emotion.
- Could be a way to teach others in classroom environments or where they are on a
way to express and communicate differently understanding each person in
different cultures
